Bam Maslar

Bam Maslar is a painter that is located out of Endicott, NY, a post industrialized town with a plethora of abandoned buildings and crumbling architecture to serve as features in the surreal paintings being created. The paintings are mystical edifices that evoke a sense of timelessness. They spark a feeling of abandonment and lonesomeness, and has been described as chaotic but also provides a strangely serene and comforting feeling. The first paintings began as small matchbox paintings, mainly depicting crumbling burning churches. The main idea is how religion compartmentalizes ideas that are, realistically, broad and accepted, and turns them into nothing more than a phrase you’d read on a matchbox. The hierarchy bends those ideas in ways that serve there purpose, misconstruing basic human ideas for political gain.
