Dan Witz | Mondo Kayo
Dan Witz’s Bug Show II Mondo Kayo captures the beautiful sensory overload of Mardi Gras culture through the lens of one of the most important living street artists of the last four decades. A massive centerpiece work from Witz’s celebrated Bug Show series, this painting merges his signature hyperrealism with the ecstatic costuming, anonymity, and collective delirium that defines carnival culture.
The result is electric.

Chicago-born and Brooklyn-based, Dan Witz is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the street art movement and has maintained one of the most respected and sustained careers in contemporary urban art.
Known for his legendary street interventions, hyperreal crowd paintings, and psychologically charged realism, Witz has exhibited internationally and has been featured in institutions including the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
His work has appeared in films including Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop and has been covered extensively in publications such as TIME Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, and ARTINFO.
Witz’s unique process blends digital composition with traditional glazing techniques inspired by the Dutch masters, resulting in paintings with extraordinary depth, atmosphere, and cinematic realism.
Collectors familiar with Witz’s major works know how rarely paintings of this scale become available.
At SCOPE Miami Beach, Mortal Machine placed Witz’s monumental Brooklyn Heights special project with a major collector for $70,000 during the fair, a defining moment for our 2025 presentation.
Bug Show II Mondo Kayo carries that same commanding presence.
