Wizardskull | Cartoon Artifacts
Mortal Machine Gallery is excited to announce CARTOON ARTIFACTS, a new mini solo exhibition by WIZARDSKULL, opening Friday, November 6, 2026, in our second showroom at 940 Royal Street in New Orleans.
Known for his irreverent humor, psychedelic sensibilities, and unmistakable interpretations of popular culture, Wizardskull has carved out a distinctive place in contemporary art. His work takes the familiar visual language of Saturday morning cartoons, comic books, and childhood nostalgia and transforms it into something wonderfully strange, unpredictable, and entirely his own.
CARTOON ARTIFACTS brings together a fresh collection of original works that explore the collision of nostalgia, absurdity, and contemporary pop culture through Wizardskull’s singular artistic vision.
CARTOON ARTIFACTS: A NEW COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL WORKS
For this exhibition, Wizardskull presents a new selection of original paintings that continue his exploration of cartoon imagery, pop-cultural iconography, and psychedelic visual storytelling.
Each piece offers a glimpse into an alternate cartoon universe, where the familiar becomes unfamiliar and beloved characters are transformed through the artist’s uniquely warped imagination.
These works invite viewers to reconsider the imagery that shaped their childhoods while celebrating the enduring influence of cartoons on contemporary visual culture.
Whether you’re a longtime collector of Wizardskull’s work or discovering his art for the first time, CARTOON ARTIFACTS offers an opportunity to experience his imaginative universe firsthand.
ALSO FEATURING BELOWKEY AND SEAN STAR WARS
Alongside Wizardskull’s mini solo exhibition, Mortal Machine Gallery’s second showroom will feature exciting new works by BELOWKEY and SEAN STAR WARS.
Both artists bring their own distinctive approaches to contemporary art, creating a dynamic presentation that celebrates bold imagery, unconventional techniques, and the continuing influence of underground and popular culture.
Together, these three artists offer a lively exploration of contemporary art that refuses to take itself too seriously.
TWO EXHIBITIONS. ONE OPENING NIGHT.
The opening of CARTOON ARTIFACTS coincides with another major exhibition at Mortal Machine Gallery.
In our main showroom, internationally acclaimed Spanish artist SERGIO MORA will debut FOLK FANTASY: Antidotes for Uncertain Times, a new collection of paintings inspired by folk traditions, devotional imagery, science fiction, and contemporary mythology.
While Mora explores imagined futures through poetic symbolism and dreamlike imagery, Wizardskull approaches the fantastic through humor, nostalgia, and cartoon absurdity.
Together, the exhibitions offer two distinctly different yet equally imaginative perspectives on contemporary art.
VIP COLLECTOR PREVIEW & AVAILABLE WORKS
Collectors interested in acquiring original works from CARTOON ARTIFACTS are invited to explore the exhibition’s VIP preview ahead of the public opening.
A selection of original paintings will be available for advance purchase, giving collectors the opportunity to secure their favorite works before opening night.
