Deep in the creative heart of Portland, Oregon, animator and sculptor Kim Slate crafts whimsical worlds populated by playful, mischievous creatures. With a keen eye for storytelling developed during her studies at CalArts, Slate's sculptures and illustrations serve as portals for viewers' imaginations, inviting them to create their own narratives around her enigmatic characters.
Her artistic prowess has left an indelible mark on some of animation's most visually striking films over the past sixteen years, including the hauntingly beautiful Coraline, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Pinocchio from visionary director Guillermo del Toro.
