David Cooley is a self-taught artist based in New Orleans. Although well-versed in realistic imagery, he currently creates psychedelic, geometric, abstract paintings using acrylic and resin.
His work is often mistaken as digitally rendered. On closer examination it becomes clear that his art is done entirely by hand. Cooley’s pieces are highly textural, compromised of a myriad of hand-pulled, colorful thorns that form geometric shapes and patterns constructing otherworldly landscapes.
