Origin Stories presents a rare collection of candid and behind the scenes photographs by legendary wrestling photographer George Napolitano, whose unparalleled access to the world of professional wrestling produced one of the medium’s most important visual archives. For decades, Napolitano documented the industry’s biggest personalities not only under the bright lights of the ring, but in locker rooms, backstage hallways, hotel corridors, and quiet moments between performances, capturing the humanity behind the legends.
This inaugural collection features 13 iconic images, each depicting future wrestling legends before they became household names. These photographs offer an intimate glimpse into a transformative era of professional wrestling, preserving moments that could never be recreated today.
Each photograph is available as a limited edition of five in an 11 × 14 inch archival pigment print, professionally produced by Picto New York on museum-quality fine art paper. Every print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by George Napolitano, making each edition a highly collectible work of photographic history.
Originally debuting at Mortal Machine Gallery in New Orleans, Origin Stories marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration dedicated to preserving and celebrating George Napolitano’s extraordinary archive. Following its New Orleans premiere, an expanded version of the exhibition will be presented as a Special Project at SCOPE Miami Beach during Miami Art Week.
More than nostalgia, Origin Stories is a celebration of legacy, ambition, and the moments before history was made. These are not simply photographs of wrestling icons, they are portraits of future legends standing on the threshold of immortality.
