Theodor Johansson is a mixed media artist working mainly with textile. Naïve expressions and frequent use of colors runs through his work signatured by playful creatures, banners and patchworks. Using crude expressions in technique and visualization, he emphasizes his inspiration from the DIY culture and the low brow aesthetics of the new wave/punk/hardcore scene of the 1980’s as well as cartoons, scary movies, toys and Jim Henson’s puppets. He was born and raised in northern Sweden, and has been based in both Stockholm (attending teacher training at Konstfack University of Arts, Craft and Design but dropped out) and in Berlin. He has worked on projects for artists AA Bronson, Mark Jan Krayenhoff van de Leur, Makode Linde and Adrian Hermanides.
