Malaysian artist Nik M Shazmie (b. 1991) creates captivating pop-surrealist works characterized by distorted, overlapping portraits. A Grand Prize winner in Nando's competitions and UOB Painting Gold Award recipient, his artistic journey took a pivotal turn during his Cape Town residency in 2014.
Inspired by Bosch's intricate detailing, toys, manga, and pop culture, Shazmie explores themes of perfection and identity in contemporary society. With solo exhibitions like "Face Fiction" and "The Rojak Wormhole," plus international showings across Asia, he continues pushing boundaries through innovative techniques and 3D digital animated paintings that create immersive visual experiences.
